| The solid one-piece case design is manufactured from 356-T6 heat-treated aluminum alloy. The massive gears are helical cut and synchro-equipped for quiet performance and shift-on-the-fly capability. These gears are supported by needle bearing elements and are precision matched to strong 8620 shafts. The Atlas also features a unique twin stick design to deliver crisp, quiet operation. The Atlas has been tested and proven to handle over 900 ft./lbs. The Atlas gear ratio options have been designed to accommodate any type of combination. The 3.0:1 Highlander was developed for the customer that does their majority of 4-wheeling on rolling hills, sand, mud with occasional rock crawling. This ratio is slightly lower than most stock transfer cases, allowing you to increase tire size without losing the needed gearing. Like the Ultra and Extreme Low units, this unit will also give a definite advantage when replacing a Jeep New Process chain-driven transfer case by allowing an additional 6 inches of rear driveshaft length for a drastically improved rear drive angle. |
