Responsibilities:

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree

Position Summary: The Assistant Manager of Communications will help direct the communications and public relations efforts on behalf of Phoenix International Raceway.
Phoenix International Raceway has been the Southwest’s leader in motorsports since opening in 1964, and currently hosts racing events featuring two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races, two NASCAR Busch Series races, a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, Indy Racing League race, Grand American Rolex Series race and other events.
Basic Duties:
Work closely with the Manager of Communications, as well as, other members of the marketing, sales and ticketing divisions of the organization to create strategies for PIR events.
Build strong working relationships with local, state and national media to ensure solid support for any news items coming from PIR.
Work directly with other public relations representatives for tracks, teams, race series and sponsors to bring the most attention to PIR events.
Assist in the development and implementation of the track media strategy. Oversee the track website and assist in the creation of several event programs and annual track media guide. Also help maintain the track photo archive.
Assist in the organization and running of both track media centers, and provide assistance with the credentialing for all track race events.
Attend all “home events”, report race results to local, regional and national media, file accurate stories and respond to requests for information.
Serve as the secondary contact for media, but assist in arranging interviews for the track president, drivers, team owners and other track personnel. Serve as a track spokesperson if required to do so.
In conjunction with the event planning, assist in media day activities before race events and assist in coordinating a media schedule for the track president and/or visiting drivers.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, plus successful experience in athletics-related communications and managing sports communication projects.
Knowledge of motorsports is essential. Someone with experience around a track, team or sponsor is preferred.
Ability to prepare written materials that are accurate, high quality and on schedule. Expertise in grammar, punctuation and use of reference and style manuals is highly recommended. Knowledge of layout design and the printing process in required. Computer experience with PageMaker, Quark and Photoshop is also required.
Candidates must be creative, curious and a believer in teamwork.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Seeking self-starters with strong work ethic, prior sports broadcasting experience, a positive attitude and the ability to be part of a team.

U.S. Figure Skating, the national governing body for figure skating, is seeking candidates for the position of Executive Director.
Reporting to U.S. Figure Skating’s Executive Committee and President, the Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the association. The successful candidate is responsible for overseeing an operating budget in excess of $14 million annually and a staff of 35 professionals. This position is also responsible for overseeing the policies, programs and goals of the association as approved by the Board.
U.S. Figure Skating seeks a candidate with senior executive level experience guiding a sports organization. The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of ability to manage staff, attract and administer national-level sponsorship programs, negotiate and collaborate with television networks and such other aspects of sports’ marketing as corporate sponsorship, marketing and maintenance. A specific background in figure skating is valuable but not required.
Substantial, experience-based leadership, executive, management, and administrative skills are required to establish credibility for this position. Experience-based awareness and empathy for the non-profit work environment is also required.
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (an MBA degree and financial experience is preferred, particularly if it includes a major in non-profit association management.).
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
