In the past people were unable to place Google AdWords bids on trademark keyword phrases. Google has recently changed it’s trademark policy to allow people to bid on trademark phrases of companies within the US and Canada. Inside the US and Canada they will not allow trademark terms to appear in the ad copy. Outside those areas they will check ad text and keyword.
/div> Beta Testing Posted: Apr 06, 04
I am beta testing some changes to the lists primarily and some new features that will likely come online in the next few days. Please check every link and every list you can. Report any oddities or potential bugs to me by email or icq. I had been having second thoughts about selling the site. Thankfully the company who was interested agreed to allow me to keep it virtually at last minute. I have some ideas for new lists and one is focused on competitive intelligence. You’ll love it when it’s ready to come out of beta. If you have any new ideas, write me. I’ll leave the site open a little bit longer, if you want to invite some friends to take a peek.

Yahoo! crawler Free Submit Posted: Mar 05, 04
What’s Free and .. oh nevermind. I don’t have the energy to come up with an interesting joke today but I do have some great news. Yahoo!’s new crawler has a free submit form you can locate below and start adding your sites.
It’s that time again where updates finally go LIVE after some rough testing. The Dictionary and Pagerank lists have been relocated to fit into the main menu system. The ‘Register’ domain links have been updated to reflect changes at DomainMojo. The Linkpop system is now improved and functional. The lists showing in Deleted and Archives are being updated as quickly as possible to remove any names that have already been re-registered. This will make it easier to find available names than before, with less to sort through.
Probably the most important news is that the Open Directory Project ( DMOZ / ODP ) has been actively removing expired domains. The lists that rely on this directory for results will be much smaller as a result. This is unfortunate for is unfortunate for those of you who pursue these names, but the change is in place with ODP and not a result of our inability to find them.

the Internet is Patented - Pay up! Posted: Jan 18, 04
The Net’s two biggest registrars of domain names are being sued for infringing an email and domain name patent granted last month.
The lawsuit, filed yesterday in California, claims Network Solutions and Register.com are liable for selling, specifically, .name domains. It claims undisclosed monetary damages and an injunction against the sale of any more domains.
US patent 6,671,714 - “Method, apparatus and business system for online communications with online and offline recipients” - is owned by Frank Weyer and Troy Javaher, both of Beverly Hills in California, was filed in November 1999 and approved on 30 December 2003.
