When I began my business, we lived in a 3 bedroom mobile home. It wasn't exactly a trailer, but close. My husbands' parents bought it for us to live in because we were having an extremely difficult time trying to find a home since our credit was not so great. Not only were were barely surviving paycheck to paycheck, but at least once a month we had to do one of those 'Payday Advances', where they loan you money for a really high interest rate and the money comes out of your next paycheck. So we fell WAY behind all the time. The only thing going for us was the fact that we didn't have to pay rent on the mobile home, since his parents owned it and the rent for the lot it was on was only $235 per month. We also received a little state assistance in the way of medical for our kids and a small amount of food stamps.
This is very true. When I read what I wrote, it sounds made up - but it was honestly our lives just over a year ago.
I didn't have much money to start a business, but what I did have is a burning desire to succeed without having to put my 2 younger children in a daycare. I was hooked on eBay immediately. During this time, I kept a journal of what I did, the licenses I needed and how much I spent on what. Then I turned the journal into an eBook and began selling that on eBay. SO many people kept writing me and asking what happened after the 90 days and how I was doing now as well as asking questions about selling, etc.. that I decided to start an organization called the "Online Sellers Association". I created a website with message boards, articles, tips and resources all about selling online. It was a free site and people started joining in droves. Then I started charging for the site and they were still signing up for it. I also joined loads of affiliate programs and they make a great deal of my income for me without me doing any work.
So I purchased a separate domain name for it, SellersTools.com. It was going very well and then I bought another domain name, AboutMyAuctions.com and gave people a way to customized their 'About Me' pages on eBay.
That's about the time my domain name buying addiction started. My husband jokes that he is going to restrict access to any domain purchasing websites on my computer. =)
To shorten this already too-long story, I am now up to 10 websites and we moved to a 4 bedroom house in a great neighborhood. We have straightened out most of our credit and are doing extremely well each month. We have not used a Payday Advance service since 2 months after I started online.
