"At this morning's session with Angela, she told me it was time to do body fat measurements and I thought it was too early because it had only been a week but she assured me that weekly was a good thing. Then she tells me that I've lost 1% body fat this past week. No way!!!! Surely she must be playing mind-games with me to just keep me enthused and optimistic about progress. So after she left I just had to take my body's measurements (tape measure) and do the Covert Bailey percentage to see how it would stack up to Angela's caliper measurement. I was still in disbelief because I haven't lost any weight (I'm forever a scale-god worshiper I think). Sure.... I wanna believe a 1% loss in one week but I just didn't think it could be possible. However!!!!.... my measurements HAVE changed and Covert Bailey's formula has dropped me 1% also. Wow........ I don't feel like I've done all that much. Just a few sessions........ just a few more of cardio............ just a week........... gadzooks!!! I'm such a believer now!!

Yep....... I'm such a believer now. I've been doing my own workouts for a couple of years using those pretty pastel/colorful dumbells.... you know the ones that come in 2, 3 & 5 pound sizes. I've had 8 - 25 pounders but just never used them. Angela threatened to take those whimpy weights home with her so I wouldn't dare touch them ever again. Tooooo funny!

I know that I still have a long way to go to reduce this mid-section bodyfat but I feel so happy today knowing that I've begun to have changes/rewards for my efforts!!!

"I read the book (twice) last evening and I understand your concept of the testimonials better now. Thanks! Also you mentioned the "Eat to Become A Fat Burning Machine" e-book in your note to me. Does that include some recipies? I did a self-evaluation (which is a big start for me) and I know that my eating habits are terrible, not to mention that I don't do any exercise. I have to want to do this for myself, my health, etc. I will take your suggestion and try changing one habit at the time i.e., incorporate more water, begin to exercise (even if only for 30 mins) etc. From your literature I believe I'm a Meso-Endo, my arms and legs tend to tone quickly (when I put forth some effort) and the remainder of my body tends to store fat. Again, I thank you for allowing me to try your book. Now it's up to me to put it into action, as I stated before, I hate exercise. Sometimes in life, we know we need to face the music, it's just finding the right instructor to make the reading/listening experience more enjoyable."

Thank you for all the emails and information. I have commited myself a fitness schedule and have been faithfully doing it for three weeks now, three to fives times a week. I work in a fitness place and a nursery manager and have not made use of the facility over the last ten yeasr, but now I am ready an dwilling to comimt myself to it. "Dear Angela,

Your site and the e-mail advice you have send to me was very inspiring and I thoroughly enjoyed your mails.

Just like you, it was upon meeting a motivating man that I started getting into body building.

I wasn't very sporty in school, (actually I hated team sports and even though I played hockey for many years, I never really derived any real pleasure or results from this sport). My mother was one of those who went on regular crash diets and exercise fads and always bought the newest "Diet & exercise" books on the market, you know, those "How to loose 10 pounds in ten days" or "How to get a firmer stomach in 3 weeks", with little results. I would sometimes do those exercises, mostly out of curiosity and boredom, trying to pass the time after school. I was quite fortunate that I had a fast metabolism and did not really have to work hard at keeping slim, so exercise was not a real priority for me. I was a classic "couch potato" and preferred chilling in front of the telly or reading a book, than going outside for a walk.

Once I left school and started a stressful job in the tourism industry, I started to develop bad habits like irregularly eating, purging on junk food, indulging in lots of coffee and avoiding all exercise, taking the elevator instead of steps at all times. Within months my body became soft and "blubbery". I became frustrated, but I guess not frustrated enough, because I did not really do anything about my discontentment with my body and just tried to sometimes eat less, which of course did not help.

That's when I met by boyfriend, who has always been a keen bodybuilder since his teens. He himself had stopped for a few years and was eager to start exercising again, so he took me along to the Gym. He tried to get me into bodybuilding, but of course like a typical woman, I was very sceptical and quite reluctant to try it out. I thought I will develop large muscles within weeks and start looking like him, loosing all my femininity. But luckily for me, my boyfriend persisted and patiently tried to sway me over to body building. It took a lot of coaxing and I know I was a very difficult trainee, but soon my body firmed up and started to show shape and I fell in love with body building.

Like your site, it should be called body sculpting and slowly but surely my body is turning into an art piece. I only have been doing this for a few months now, so my body is far from a master piece, but I am patient and have learned to trust my boyfriend's advice and am now an eager apprentice. (oh yes, and we got married in the mean time as well) I have learned that it is bloody hard work, but the rewards are worth the pain and sweat. I can't believe I once was afraid of gaining muscle; now I realize how beautiful it can be.

My husband actually forwarded your website to me, because there are days when it's still hard for me to believe that Paul understands what a woman wants out of exercise and to still trust him 100% on the exercise programs he works out for me. I guess he send me your site to give me a second opinion and after reading your site, I realized that he does understand what I want. Since I started to regularly work out, I feel great and can't believe I waited so long to get into weight lifting. Now I am trying to persuade my seriously overweight sister and my mother-in-law (who still believes that spot training and starvation is the way to get a good body) to follow in my foot steps and start working hard at getting the best body that God intended for them to have.

Paul used to tease me and said I had T-rex arms, because I could not even lift the lightest of weights and had no strength at all in my body, but now my arms are my best feature, beautifully muscular, slim and strong. I am now making some boys at the Gym feel insecure, because I lift heavier weights than some of the guys.

Your diet advice however was the one that I really enjoyed. Paul is a certified trainer, but he does not spend much time on proper nutrition, so I am reading what I can about correct eating habits. Therefore your advice came in handy and the practical and realistic guidance on fat loss and muscle gain has been printed and stuck to my fridge, for regular consulting.

Anyway, that is enough about me. I just want to thank you for the e-mails that you send with the advice. Your life story was very inspiring and I do thank you that you took the time to set up your website and that you share your experience with the rest of us women who want to work on a good body and just need a little help.

"You have been a great inspiration for me. I have been doing a variation of not only the wieght machine exercises but also doing a little yogalates and aerobics to keep myself from getting bored. "I've been reading your newsletters and visiting your site regularly for the past month or so and I would like to say that I think you're doing a really great thing here. And this is coming from someone who has been pretty much where you are now. I was unfit and out of shape at age 33 and spent the next 3 years getting myself into the most incredible shape of my life through weight training and proper eating. So, my praise is genuine!

Hello, friend! My name is Angela Ursprung and I want you to know that your dream of having a strong, lean, and healthy body is not only possible, but WILL be achieved with your decision to move forward here today.

I know that's a lot to hope for, and that you've probably been lied to, deceived and manipulated before, so allow me to take a few minutes of your time to outline what I've been through, what it's taught me, how I therefore can help you, and to show you the truly effective and life-changing offer that is waiting for you. Let me tell you first of all that I was raised very poor. As a child of a welfare mother, I never had proper nutrition growing up and never really knew what muscle was. In short, I was not a healthy person, so I can totally relate to you if you're not. In fact, I was thin as a young woman, but not because of a healthy lifestyle, it was because of malnutrition and my own personal anquish over how to make ends meet. I never exercised. I didn't know how to.

In fact, I was the one leading people to the party -- attending keggers, passing the beer bong, and then being so hungover I couldn't move for 2-3 days afterward. No, I wasn't at all healthy and I didn't even know what being healthy really meant...that is, until I nearly lost my life.

Within 3 months of graduating from college, without any family or financial support to speak of as I was independent from the age of 17, I was fatally injured in an automobile accident. By God's grace I was revived, but suffered two terribly shattered ankles and multiple other contusions and abrasions. I was in very serious condition and was told by the doctor that I might never walk again, and that if I did, I would have a permanent and lifelong disability. In fact, for a long time, the only way I could get around without help was to slide myself along the floor and pull myself up on to things by using my arms. My legs were completely useless.

Well, what that doctor didn't realize is that I had nothing and no one to fall back on. I had to take care of myself and I certainly couldn't do that from a bed. Besides, I was just beginning a life that I thought held promise and I wanted it. As soon as I could, which was about 4 months, I left my wheelchair behind and began to walk with two casts and on crutches, and it was not easy. But I was determined.

After finally getting both casts off I had a pretty bad limp and resulting pain and nerve damage for a long long time thereafter. In addition, I had accumulated many tens of thousands of dollars of medical bills, and since I had no family support and no insurance as a young co-ed, I had to file bankruptcy, which was humiliating and heartbreaking.

Why am I telling you this? Because you need to know that someone who is physically unable by all medical standards, and financially distraught -- someone who has no reason whatsoever to be successful, was, and is, and you can be, too! The ONLY thing holding you back is YOU!

There's a lot more to the story which you'll have the opportunity to read later, but I want to talk to you now about how things changed. I'm sure you can relate to it.

As I did manage to eventually walk sufficiently and began my corporate career and started earning a living, I started to eat all kinds of things. As a deprived person for the 1st 2 decades of my life, I was very happy to begin to be able to afford chips and burgers and pizza and ice cream and whatever else I wanted, when I wanted it, and my body began to change in ways I wasn't happy with. So, like you, I bought into the low-fat-to-lose-weight thing, and started baking fresh muffins and eating healthier, at least as far as American standards dictated. And what happened? That's right, like you my back side just kept getting bigger and bigger. I even worked my way up to running a mile at a time and kept eating low-fat foods and my weight kept going up. Like you, I saw the scale increasing steadily, felt like I was doing all the right things, and was confused and frustrated with my results--or lack of them! I began, in fact, to believe that I had no choice to but to accept the steady increase of body fat as an aging female. I watched him transform from a slug to a god-like sculpture!

This pretty much continued until I met and began dating someone who had transformed from a slug himself, into something like "The Man With The Helmet" up on my logo. His transformation was total, amazing, and inspiring. And I believed that if he could do it, I could, too, and I learned everything I could from him. As our relationship ended, I decided to leave corporate America and finally pursue health in my life, and as I began to practice what I had learned, my body began to change as well--and so drastically that people began asking me for help. My new life as a personal trainer had begun!

So, I became certified through The American College of Sports Medicine and learned that I had a real passion for helping women become better than they ever dreamed possible. I knew the way, and I wanted to share it. I became "The Body Sculptress."

That's the truth, and I've worked with enough people at this point to realize that without a solid plan, people will either not eat enough or they will eat too much.     Since I began helping people transform their bodies several years ago, one of my constant challenges is how to get people to eat "right." In short, highly processed food is more likely to have a higher glycemic value and therefore cause an insulin spike and resulting fat storage than whole natural foods. In addition, our bodies have to work pretty hard, thereby raising metabolic values, to process complex natural foods while processed foods are turned into blood sugar pretty quickly (bad thing for most of us). There are so many reasons to prefer natural to processed foods, but the reality of the situation is that some people either can't or won't cook, so what do they do? Is it possible to have a healthy lean body without becoming a frequent visitor to your local "Whole Foods" store? The answer is "yes!" and here is the program.

    Every one of the items on these menus is cook-free! All you have to do is get it and have it available. You don't have to do anything but shop, and then open it up to eat it. How's that for easy? Folks, it just doesn't get any easier, unless you have a full-time shopper and/or chef working for you.

    In addition, the following guidelines were met in nearly every case. In some instances, I was really shocked at the sodium levels at the fast-food restaurants. Saturated fat was an issue, but not so bad an issue as the sodium. I was saddened to find that some of my favorites have to be taken off of my own "allowed" list. It wasn't easy and I'm sure you are going to question some of my choices. But I've added the link to nearly every provider so that you can see for yourself what the alternatives are.

    Saturated Fat:   less than or equal to 4 grams per serving
    Carbohydrates:   maximum veggies, minimum starches
    Protein:   10 or more grams per serving
    Sodium:   less than 700 mg (~ 1/4 t) per serving
    Sugar:   less than 15 g per serving
