For those who don't follow the s-league, Sinchi TV is an invited team from China. They have been playing in the s-league since last season. Last season they finished in 7th place out of 12 teams. I think the bookies are probably over-reacting to the 6-1 thrashing of league leaders Woodlands by Home United last week to have set the handicap of this game at 0:2 1/2. Yes, the defending champions might have humiliated Woodlands' last week, but it have to said that the game was played in an water-logged pitch which didn't allow good football. Even in that win, they weren't all that convincing to me. Woodlands pressed at the start of the game and might have went ahead if striker Park Kang Guy had been less wasteful with the 1-on-1 chance. After the Protectors scored their 2nd, Woodlands just gave up. The main problem with the home side this season is in their usually reliable defence. The central pairing of Aide and Subramani used to work so well for them in the past but this season they have already let in 11 goals in 7 games, many of which were mistakes of either 1 of them. Woodlands Wellington v Young Lions U-23 (0:3/4)
After 6 wins on a trot, league leaders Woodlands was brought back to earth last week when they crashed 1-6 to the defending champions Home United. To me the result wasn't a total surprise, cos i've watched them in their previous few games prior to the defeat and they were not at all convincing to me. Particularly in their 3-2 win over Japanese side Albirex. They took a 3-0 lead inside the first 10 mins and were cruising in the entire 1st half. However in the 2nd half, the fit young Japanese lads took total control of the game and really ran and the home side ragged and got 2 goals back. The home side could only respond by commiting fouls and delibrate time wasting, which was pretty "disgusting" to me and the rest of the fans at the stadium.
In Park Kang Guy, Woodlands has discovered a gem of a striker. The Korean has already netted 8 times in 7 games this season. Incidentally the Korean was signed on to replace Agu Casmir, who turns up for the Young Lions now. Read More
