AGGRAND Natural Fertilizers

The Superior All-Purpose Organic Fertilizers. AGGRAND Natural Liquid Fertilizers were developed through extensive research to respond to the needs of farmers, turf managers, gardeners and homeowners. It is a safe, effective alternative to high analysis chemical fertilizers. AGGRAND Natural Fertilizers stimulates biological soil activity providing plants all the necessary nutrients to produce high quality yields.

AGGRAND Natural Organic Liquid Fertilizer is the professional's choice for growth of healthy flowers, house plants, vegetables, fruits, lawns, shrubs and trees. AGGRAND Fertilizer contains fish solubles, a rich source of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. It also contains specially selected cold water kelp concentrate, another rich source of potassium along with micronutrients, stress relieving hormones and chelating agents. The combination of fish and kelp creates an all-purpose fertilizer that can be conveniently applied to the soil or directly on the plants as a foliar spray.

This website shows you a natural alternative to dangerous chemical fertilizers to maintain you lawn, garden and crops. We'll put our many years of cherry, apple, vegetable farming and natural land care to use for you.

Everywhere you go you see people having their lawns sprayed by a lawn care company. A tanker truck is parked outside the house & an operator with boots, gloves and sometimes a mask walks around the grass hauling a hose and spraying a chemical mixture on the lawn and then puts signs on the lawns to "stay off the grass". As the use of these lawn chemicals and pesticides has grown, questions have arisen regarding safety hazards and the environmental consequences.

Everything that follows in this introduction is documented and supported by the E.P.A., U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. G.A.O., private agencies, and other industry experts

Contrary to what lawn care companies would like people to believe, herbicides (weed killers) and other pesticides are not "magic bullets". They are broad spectrum biocides, and by their very nature can harm organisms other than targeted species. This includes homeowners and their families, neighbors and pets.

The pesticide industry downplays this by claiming their chemicals are heavily diluted, but doesn't mention that the toxins are still extremely dangerous in small amounts. They are also unwilling to mention all of what is in their mixtures. Many components are classified as "inert", which allows them to be kept hidden from the public and not listed on the product labels. These are more than just fillers or solvents. "Inert" does not mean "inactive"- some, such as benzene and xylene, are more toxic than listed chemicals.

Listed chemicals can be just as dangerous. Many pesticides are not safe when dry. Water evaporates, but most pesticides remain and continue to release often odorless and invisible toxic vapors. In areas where lawn spraying is common, they accumulate in toxic smog throughout the entire season. Some pesticides remain active for years after application.

The United States General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress, has also tried to alert the public to lawn chemical dangers. GAO's undercover team noted many fictitious claims by many in the lawn care industry. Many included unsupported claims of product safety. Others were just as deceiving such as one lawn care company's claim that a child would have to ingest ten cups of treated grass clippings to equal the toxicity of one baby aspirin. In fact. the real danger is that most poisonings come from inhaling pesticide residues or absorbing them through the skin, not ingestion.*

Danger to Do-It-Yourselfers

Most homeowners do not take proper protection and safety precautions. They don't look at the warnings on the toxins and don't wear gloves, goggles, respirator or protective clothing to decrease exposure. Homeowners commonly use up to ten times as much pesticides as farmers. A Virginia Tech study found that that most homeowners have no idea how much nitrogen to apply when fertilizing and that they apply chemicals in ways that damage water supplies.

Pesticides drift and settle during application. Pesticides engulf the home and are easily tracked inside, readily inhaled and absorbed through the skin. They do harm by attacking the central nervous system and other essential organs. Symptoms of pesticide poisoning are often deceptively simple and often mis-diagnosed as flu or allergies.

Increasingly, reports from many people around the country are "beginning to link feeling terrible with the fact that the neighbors had the lawn sprayed the day before", notes Catherine Carr, a toxicologist for the National Coalition Against The Misuse Of Pesticides. Unfortunately, except for industrial accidents, tests for pesticide poisoning are rarely performed, partially because they are expensive. Doctors also attribute the symptoms to stress, allergies, influenza, or an overactive imagination.

According to the EPA, 95% of the pesticides used on residential lawns are possible or probable carcinogens. Many of these pesticides also find their way into groundwater wells, lakes, rivers and streams. Numerous documented scientific studies back this up. Studies by the National Cancer Society and other medical researchers have discovered a definite link between fatal non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (NHL) and exposure to triazine herbicides (like Atrazine), phenoxyacetic herbicides (2,4-D), organophosphate insecticides (Diazinon), fungicides, and fumigants; all which have uses as lawn chemicals.

We are here to alert you to the many dangers chemical fertilizers pose to yourself, your family, pets and wildlife and to show you a better, safer, natural way.....the AGGRAND way

Read the labels on many lawn pesticide products, sprayed by lawn companies or sold in stores, and you will find one or more of the following: 2,4-D, Captan, Diazinon, Dursban, Dacthal, Dicamba, and Mecocrop. These pesticides are not environmental friendly and also are potentially hazardous to breathe the vapors or come into contact with skin, as evidenced by the warning labels on lawn pesticide products.

Diazinon has been banned for use on golf courses and sod farms due to massive waterfowl deaths but is still widely used on lawns and gardens, but has recently been sharply restricted by the EPA and could only be manufactured up until 2003 and sold on store shelf's until remaining stock is depleted. It is an organophosphate which disables the central nervous system by blocking enzymes essential for nerve impulse transmission. Organophosphates are nerve gas derivatives originally developed during World War II chemical warfare and act as neurological toxins on insects, mammals, and even humans.

Learn The Facts and Protect Yourself

People can protect themselves and their families by knowing the facts. If having grass that looks more like Astroturf than living plants still seems essential, it doesn't have to come with pesticides but is possible with AGGRAND products and programs that are organic and natural. These products safer, cheaper, and often work better than pesticides.

Chemicals and pesticides add salt to the soil and kill beneficial nitrogen-fixing microorganisms that provide necessary nutrients for grass. Each application of chemicals creates a dependence for the next. Synthetic fertilizers kill earthworms and other organisms that aerate soil, causing it to compact and kill grass plants. Inorganic nitrogen-based fertilizers also promote the sprouting of weeds. Compounds in chemical fertilizers also acidify the soil and aid in breeding of some insects. Lawns need a pH of between 5.6 and 7 or else they will turn pale and thin out. Additional doses of chemicals will only make matters worse. Recycling grass clippings saves money, reduces waste, and is equivalent to three applications of fertilizer a year without unhealthy chemicals and their side-effects. Natural fertilizers are also better because they are time released, allowing grass to grow slower and tougher, requiring much less care.

Insects have best been controlled by insects for millions of years, and the lawn is no exception. Insecticides often kill more beneficial insects than the problem ones. Once the natural balance is destroyed, continued reliance on insecticides will occur. This is also true of weed killers. In the long run, pesticides can actually help the very pests they target by also killing their predators, and their use becomes self-perpetuating. Until a natural balance is restored, more and more will have to be spent each year on chemicals, and resistant pests may also invade. Using alternative strategies will bring better results and be kinder to the environment. Integrated Pest Management gives simple long-lasting solutions which require no chemicals, much less money, and much less time and effort.

Chemical fertilizers are not necessary for use on lawns, or gardens, and can pose serious ecological and human health risks that outweigh any benefits they offer.

Integrated Pest Management strategies and natural organic fertilizers offer alternatives that work better and have less harmful effects. Proper legislation to protect the public regarding pesticide use is seriously insufficient. Therefore, the responsibility rests on the public to be the ultimate judge of what acceptable levels of risk will be for their families and environment.

Please let us show you a better, safer and more cost effective method for your lawn, garden, house plants, and crops....the AGGRAND way.

AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer is a multi-purpose liquid product that is ideal for all-around use on flowers, vegetables, fruits, lawns, shrubs, trees and field crops. Now, with our new odor-absorbing ingredient, AGGRAND is perfect for houseplants as well!

AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer provides nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (N-P-K) in a 4-3-3 ratio. These essential nutrients promote vigorous growth, increased root development and improved disease and stress tolerance.

With AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer, natural ingredients are released more slowly so there is less chance of environmental impact. Adding natural ingredients to the soil increases microbial activity. Soil microbes fix the nutrients needed for plant growth and release them slowly as plants need them. On the other hand petrochemical fertilizers are often high in soluble salts that are detrimental to soil microbes and plants alike: They decrease microbial activity and plant nutrient uptake. Although these fertilizers are high analysis N-P-K, the plant-use efficiency is very low.

AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer utilizes kelp concentrate from the icy waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. Kelp accumulates high levels of plant growth hormones and nutrients. When used as a fertilizer, kelp makes plants more robust and healthy by enhancing their heat, drought and cold tolerance. It also supplies N-P-K, sulfur (S), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), boron (B), sodium (Na), carbohydrates and numerous amino acids.

AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer also utilizes hydrolyzed fish solubles extracted through low temperature processes from Menhaden fish which were used by Native Americans for centuries to grow their crops. Menhaden comes from the word "munna whaleaug" which means "that which manures." Menhaden ocean fish feed on mineral rich plankton, which makes them full of essential nutrients. The fish are steamed slowly at 190° F, which preserves the amino acids, minerals and vitamins. The fish is then broken down into smaller components with enzymes (hydrolysis). The fish component in AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer supplies N-P-K and 10 micronutrients, as well as a number of vitamins and amino acids.

Bloodmeal and sulfate of potash are combined with the fish to boost the nutrient levels in AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer. Together, the kelp, fish, bloodmeal and sulfate of potash provide all of the elements needed to grow healthy, vigorous plants. In addition to these ingredients, a number of other natural additives are included that condition the soil, reduce transplant shock and chelate the nutrients. Chelated nutrients are protected against leaching into the groundwater and are readily available for plant uptake.

AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer provides beautiful, healthy plants and super yields of high quality, nutritious vegetables, fruits and field crops. AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer is not available for purchase in Wisconsin

AGGRAND Natural Liquid Lime is an easy, effective alternative to bagged lime for use on permanent ground covers such as turf, pastures and hay fields. This product utilizes very fine lime in a liquid suspension, which is absorbed by the leaves and roots. AGGRAND Natural Liquid Lime should be used with AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer 4-3-3 to supply additional calcium to crops such as tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage, and lettuce that need copious amounts of this vital nutrient.

Calcium is the plant's servant. It regulates opening and closing of stomates, removes toxins from the tissue, contributes to the development of shoots and roots, and keeps out unwelcome invaders.

Many acidic soils do not contain enough calcium to support prolific plant growth. When soil pH is below 6.0, plants may show signs of calcium deficiency such as yellowing of leaves, retarded growth of roots and shoots, dieback of growing tips, and premature death of older leaves. AGGRAND Natural Liquid Lime applications are the easy way to correct a calcium deficiency without tilling in bagged lime.

Soil liming must not be ignored when planting a new lawn, pasture or hay field. Soil liming increases microbial activity and the proliferation of earthworms and beneficial insects. Soil health is an on-going process; the immediate goal, however, is producing green lawns, productive pastures and high yielding hay fields that need calcium to promote prolific plant growth. AGGRAND Natural Liquid Lime is not available for purchase in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal is an important part of any soil fertility and plant nutrition program. AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal contains 12% readily available phosphorus (P), which is reflected by the grade of 0-12-0 (N-P-K). Phosphorus aids in plant establishment and production of prolific blooms and high yields of top quality fruits.

AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal is recommended for application during transplanting of vegetable and flower starts, and planting of bulbs and seeds. It increases root development which produces faster growing, healthier plants. Application of AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal to carrots and potatoes increases the size and quality of the roots and tubers. Application to bulbs increases the number and size of flowers, and the bulbs can be split more frequently. Increased phosphorus availability during flowering and fruit development lengthens the flowering period and produces higher numbers of flowers and fruits.

AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal contains fast and slow release phosphorus. As a result, AGGRAND 0-12-0 applied as a starter fertilizer is readily available during early plant development, and the rest becomes available throughout the growing season. Many bonemeal fertilizers are not ground as finely as AGGRAND 0-12-0 and are released over a period of years so the phosphorus can become locked up into an unavailable form in the soil.

The fine grind of AGGRAND 0-12-0 makes it dissolve in a shorter period of time which makes it more suited to plant needs. The fineness also facilitates deeper penetration into the soil profile so it becomes available to a greater percentage of plant roots than coarser granular bonemeal products.

The fast release phosphorus in AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal makes it an excellent source for foliar feeding fruit trees, flowers, vegetables and crops that require extra phosphorus during early bud formation and fruit enlargement.

AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal also contains calcium which improves soil tilth, nutrient exchange capacity, and is useful in correcting calcium deficiencies of plants that require extra calcium such as tomatoes.

AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal is the key to early plant growth and development and super yields of high quality fruits, flowers, roots and field crops that need extra phosphorus and calcium. AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal is not available for purchase in Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash is an important part of any soil fertility/plant nutrition program. It contains 8% readily available Potash, a grade of 0-0-8 (N-P-K). Potassium (K) is considered the "universal helper" and is a major contributor to plant health because it regulates so many important processes in the plant. AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash also contains 2% sulfur (S). Sulfur, called the "fourth major nutrient," has many important functions in plant growth and must be present in sufficient amounts in the soil and plant tissue to realize the benefits of nitrogen and potassium.

AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash utilizes kelp concentrate from the icy waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. Kelp from this source contains high levels of plant growth hormones, amino acids, micronutrients and potassium. When used as fertilizer, kelp makes plants more robust and healthy by enhancing their heat, drought and cold tolerance. In addition, kelp increases the plant growth rate and fruit production, size, and quality.

AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash contains minimally processed sulfate of potash from Great Salt Lake in Utah. Unlike other sources of potassium this source does not contain chloride (Cl) which can be damaging to soil life and plant roots. Potassium must be present in large quantities in plants because it is a component of the fluids which flood the plant tissue. Potassium-deficient plants are susceptible to insect attack, have weak stalks, and underdeveloped root systems. Sufficient potassium produces high quality vegetables and tree fruits. Dark green leaves, high nutritional quality, firm stalks, prolific root growth, greater plant vigor, improved nutrient uptake, higher yields, fewer blemishes increased disease and insect resistance, and increased fruit shelf-life are benefits of crops grown with AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash.

Sulfur is often present in plants in equal or greater amounts than potassium. Sufficient sulfur produces high quality and yields of vegetables, tree fruits, small grains, legumes, and forages. High protein and oil levels in seed and high protein and vitamin A production in forages and legumes are benefits of increasing sulfur fertility.

In addition to the many benefits provided by the kelp and sulfate of potash in AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash, naturally occurring proprietary ingredients added to this fertilizer release nutrients from the soil, act as chelating agents, aid in foliar and root uptake, and stimulate soil biological activity. AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash is the key to overall plant health, quality, increased marketability, high yields and increased stress tolerance. AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash is not available for purchase in Wisconsin

Things to keep in mind....

I am more than happy to discuss your individual needs to work in conjunction with the organic scientist at AGGRAND to put together a program that will work for you. It may take time, but you can break the chemical cycle and still have the kind of lawn, garden, crop that you want while protecting the environment that helps to make all of it possible

On toxified soils it takes time to bring life back into soil. AGGRAND must be used in conjunction with other sustainable practices for several years years to get optimum results. On less toxified soils result are much more immediately seen.

When converting a lawn, garden, or field, weed pressure will get worse before it gets better. Weeds are adventitious (they move into compacted, unbalanced, toxified soils). But herbicides and insecticides use much be reduced or eliminated to get optimum results from AGGRAND and other organic inputs. Eventually the more evolved crop plants will out –complete weeds went the soil chemistry and biology are optimized.

In the meantime, it may be helpful to use corn gluten meal as an organic weed preventative. Corn gluten meal has been shown to halt weed germination, but it mush be applied before weed seeds take toot. Application should be done tin the spring in most northern states. Remember that corn gluten meal will stop germination of any grass seed as well, so do not use it if you are re-seeding your lawn.
