  • Snoring arises when the air passage is blocked, thereby inhibiting easy and normal breathing during sleep.


  • Nasal blockages can also cause snoring because it forces people to breath through their mouth. If the mouth is open, the tongue is forced back and pushes the uvula against the back of the throat.


  • Muscles in the airway are kept open when you are awake, but sag inwards during sleep. When they relax more than necessary the airway can become blocked and snoring will result.
