Snoring Facts

  • Snoring arises by a blocked air passage, in that way inhibiting easy and usual breathing while sleeping.


  • Snoring is noisier the more the airway is blocked.


  • Muscles in the airway are kept open when you are awake, but sag inwards during sleep. When they relax too much they block the breathing passage and snoring occurs.


  • Snoring can be caused by a nasal blockage (i.e. when somebody has a cold) and as the personal is force to breathe through their mouth they can begin to snore. If the mouth is open, the tongue is forced back and pushes the uvula against the back of the throat.
