- Snoring develops in situations where the air passage is blocked, thereby inhibiting normal breathing while sleeping.
- Breathing through the mouth (as a result of a nasal blockage) can cause snoring. The tongue is pushed back when the mouth is open, and makes the uvula to press against the throat.
- When awake the muscles of the throat keep the throat open but when asleep these muscles go into a relax mode & sag inward. Snoring results from the muscles relaxing too much and blocking the throat.
