I snored severely.

- Snoring takes place when the air passage is impeded, therefore inhibiting simple and normal breathing during sleep.
- The noise level of snoring increases as the breathing passage becomes more blocked.
- Nasal blockages can also cause snoring because it forces people to breath through their mouth. The tongue is pushed back when the mouth is open, and makes the uvula to press against the throat.
- Muscles in the throat, which are open while the body is awake, relax and sag during sleep. Snoring occurs when these muscles collapse (i.e. become too lax), creating a blockage at the airway.
