  • Snoring occurs when the air passage is hindered, thus inhibiting usual and easy breathing while asleep.


  • The noise level of snoring increases as the breathing passage becomes more blocked.


  • The muscles in the throat are kept open while a person is awake, but when they are asleep they relax and close up. Snoring occurs when these muscles collapse (i.e. become too lax), creating a blockage at the airway.
