I had a chronic case of snoring.
In my youth it plagued me - going out on trips with friends I would keep them up all night by snoring.

- Snoring arises when the air passage is blocked, thereby inhibiting easy and normal breathing during sleep.
- Muscles in the throat, which are open while the body is awake, relax and sag during sleep. When they relax too much they block the breathing passage and snoring occurs.
- Snoring can be caused by a nasal blockage (i.e. when somebody has a cold) and as the personal is force to breathe through their mouth they can begin to snore. In an open-mouth position the tongue is pushed back causing the uvula to press against the back of the throat.
- The noise level of snoring increases as the breathing passage becomes more blocked.
