I had a chronic case of snoring.

- Snoring arises when the air passage is blocked, thereby inhibiting easy and normal breathing during sleep.
- The sound of snoring varies with the degree of obstruction.
- The muscles in the throat are kept open while a person is awake, but when they are asleep they relax and close up. Snoring results from the muscles relaxing too much and blocking the throat.
